Leeward O‘ahu Schools Receive Funds From A&B Initiative
The children of Manana Elementary School celebrate their award of $1,500 from Pearl Highlands Center, as part of Alexander & Baldwin’s Kōkua for Keiki program.
Pearl Highlands Center awarded $1,000 to Lehua El- ementary School, $1,500 to Manana Elementary School and $2,000 to Pearl City El- ementary School. The dona- tion is part of Alexander & Baldwin’s Kōkua for Keiki program.
“Kōkua for Keiki encour- ages shoppers and diners to support schools in their neighborhood communities,” states Kit Millan, senior vice president of asset manage- ment at A&B. “This year, over 1,400 receipts were collected and converted into monetary awards for our partner schools to fund their educational priorities and en- richment programs.”
This annual fundraising ini- tiative raises money for Ha- wai‘i public schools in com- munities near A&B shopping centers.
Kōkua for Keiki funds augment A&B’s annual Kōkua Giving charatible program which donated $977,000 in 2021 to support 175 nonprofit organizations across the state.
In its second year, A&B’s Kōkua for Keiki initiative partnered 16 public schools with eight A&B shopping centers on O‘ahu and Hawai‘i Island. The program ran for two months, from December 2021 through January 2022, capturing the holiday traffic through the centers.
