Companies from around O‘ahu, including ‘Aiea Col- lision Center, recently joined together to assist families in need with helpful transporta- tion vehicles.
The 2013 Hyundai Sonata gifted to Jamie R. was refur- bished by UNIBODY Auto- tech Collision Center and the 2014 Nissan Sentra donated to an anonymous recipient was refurbished by ‘Aiea Collision Center.
“This is the sixth year First Insurance has gifted refurbished vehicles to local families and it is always a heartwarming moment when we hand the keys to the new owners,” states Mark Yoda, FICOH president and CEO.
First Insurance Co. of Ha- wai‘i collaborated with ‘Aiea Collision Center and UNI- BODY Autotech Collision Center to gift refurbished vehicles to two deserving families identified by Help- ing Hands Hawai‘i’s Adopt A Family Program.
Jamie is a single mother with four children who, in her application to the Help- ing Hands Hawai‘i program states, “I would consider it a holiday miracle to get a car for me and my four children to get to the store, school and doctor’s appointments.”
“We are grateful for our partners that provided la- bor, parts and paint to re- furbish the cars. Providing much-needed transportation to these families will help transform their lives, and the lives of their children,” Yoda adds.
For the effort, FICOH do- nated the salvaged cars and auto parts; ‘Aiea Collision Center and UNIBODY Auto- tech Collision Center donated their labor; Windward Hyun- dai, New City Nissan and NAPA Hawai‘i donated sup- plies and auto parts; and PPG Paints donated materials.
The new owner of the Nissan Sentra, who was not named, is a single mother who recently completed a certified nursing assistant program, and needs a car to drop her toddler off at pre- school and get to work.
“We appreciate FICOH and their partners for the incredible generosity and compassion they show to our families each and every year,” states Kristine Gara- biles, program manager of Helping Hands Hawai‘i.
