Talking Dolls Aim To Empower Girls To Pursue STEM Careers
March is a key month for women and girls — it’s Women’s History Month, Expanding Girls’ Horizons in Science and Engineering Month and March 14 was Science Education Day.

Macy’s Ala Moana is helping promote this mes- sage by making available at its store a line of dolls de- signed to encourage girls to pursue the critical subjects of science, technology, en- gineering and math.
Each time a child squeez- es the doll’s hand, the doll delivers one of 75 phrases, sing-alongs, and sound ef- fects that encourage playing and learning. The dolls also feature a diverse range of real girls’ voices.
The dolls, created by the company Surprise Powerz, are aimed at toddlers and preschoolers, and encourage counting, STEM vocabu- lary, problem-solving and healthy imaginative pretend play.
The company Surprise Powerz has released a line of four talking dolls designed to engage with young girls about STEM subjects.
