PBA Celebrates Inspirational Leaders
Scholarships Available For Student-athletes

The Outrigger Duke Ka- hanamoku Foundation is now accepting scholarship applications for the 2023- 24 school year.
$1,000 to $3,500 each are available. The deadline to apply is March 1.
Honorees were Nancy Atmospera-Walch, presi- dent and CEO of Advantage Health Care Provider Inc.; University of Hawai‘i pres- ident David Lassner; Pieper and Lois Toyama of Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Ha- wai‘i; and the Pacific Ameri- can Foundation.
Proceeds from the event, which came from ticket sales, sponsorships and a silent auction, went toward advancing PBA’s peace- based student programs.
Full-time undergraduate students in Honolulu and the rest of the state are eligi- ble. Ideal candidates should demonstrate Duke’s spirit of aloha in athletics, academ- ics, leadership and com- munity involvement. They must also have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, par- ticipate in canoeing, surfing, kayaking, swimming, div- ing, water polo, sailing or volleyball and show proof of intent to compete in those sports in college.
The foundation also of- fers a one-time $15,000 scholarship for high school seniors.

The Duke Award Schol- arship recognizes an out- standing high school se- nior who exemplifies the character and personality traits of Duke. They must be nominated for consid- eration. Administrators and athletic officials are welcome to submit nom- inations through Jan. 25.
