New Deli, More Poke At Safeway

he Safeway at Hawai‘i Kai Shopping Center, located 377 Keāhole St., cele- brated its grand re-opening with a bless-
ing, check presentation and hula performances. The grocery store, which is an original tenant of the longtime shopping destination,
recently completed a yearlong renovation. “The store has a new footprint that’s in- creased more than 15%, so now it’s more than 49,000 square feet,” says Clayton Eto,
district manager for Safeway Hawai‘i.
“We expanded various departments such as produce, we added fresh-cut fruits and vegetables. We expanded the deli, bakery, floral departments, and the fresh seafood section has a new poke case. There’s new prepared food and a butcher block in the meat department as well. We also added a Starbucks to the store, it’s the only Starbucks
in this shopping center.
“We wanted to expand the store (since)
