enny Yim, a singer-songwriter from Waialua, is making music that touches the mind and heart.
The soulful artist often creates songs in- spired by things she has gone through or is struggling with, resulting in real, raw lyrics that helps her connect with listeners.
“I think music is one of the best ways to connect people and one of the closest things in life to magic,” states Yim. “I love that I can talk so freely about things through songs, and it opens up the door to so many import- ant conversations.”
Yim often brings up topics that are not so typical in her lyrics to relate to others on a deep level — she reveals she wrote a song for her grandmother’s funeral in the early stages of her career.
“I love writing about hard things,” shares Yim. “I love talking about the weird and less talked about aspects of mental health or just difficult situations. Those feelings and emo- tions that are so hard to put into words are the things I try to capture in my songs. I like
