ABY CENTRAL O‘AHU VOICE STAFF
rea Soroptimist Clubs — including Central O‘ahu and North O‘ahu — are seeking applicants from local
high schools for the Soroptimist Violet Rich- ardson Award. This recognizes young wom- en volunteers between the ages of 14 and 18 who improve their communities and the world through their efforts, such as fighting against drugs, crime and violence; cleaning up the environment; and working to end discrimina- tion and poverty. Volunteer actions that benefit women or girls are particularly encouraged.
Award recipients will receive a certificate and a $500 cash award. They will also be rec- ognized and honored at a special awards re- ception held in April at Prince Waikīkī.
“This award recognizes young women vol- unteers who make the community and world a better place through their volunteer efforts,” states awards chair Rene Tokunaga.
The deadline to submit applications and a media consent form is Dec. 15.
For more info, visit si-founderregion.org, or contact Tokunaga at tokunagar@gmail.com or 808-497-1361.
