The Grom Contest by T&C Surf Designs was June 5-6 at Queen’s surf break at Kūhiō Beach. Then, it’s straight into the Local Motion Surf Into Summer the following week- end at Ala Moana Bowls June 11-12. Before that is the 2022 Hawai‘i Adaptive Surfing Championships June 7-11.
On a sad note, the world said goodbye to the iconic surfboard shaper Dick Brew- er. He passed on to that big wave in the sky on May 30.
Brewer was born in Min- nesota in 1936. He then head- ed west to Long Beach when he was 3 years old. He started surfing in 1952 and started shaping around 1959.
