s part of Lions in Sight Month, Ha- wai‘i Lions clubs will be collect- ing donations of used prescription
eyeglasses and sunglasses and hearing aids throughout January as part of a recycling pro- gram. The Lions organization has partnered with Walmart in an effort to gather the used eyeglasses.
Although they are accepted year-round at special boxes throughout the state, the eye- glasses can be dropped off on Jan. 22 —which is the Lions’ major collection day — at the Mililani Walmart (95-550 Lanikuhana Ave.) Vision Center.
Due to COVID-19 guidelines regarding so- cial distancing, Lions will not be present this year at storefronts as in previous years. How- ever, they are accepting donations through specially marked Lions Recycle for Sight col- lection boxes.
The glasses will be cleaned and distributed to those in need within developing countries where eye care is often unaffordable and in- accessible.
