Area Teacher Earns Statewide Accolade
Kanoelani Elementary School special education teacher Jenna Oskey got a thrilling surprise April 14 when she received honors as the state’s winner of the Teacher of Promise Award from the Milken Educators of Hawai‘i. Each year, the honor recognizes outstanding and up-and-coming class- room educators who exhibit great potential within their first six classroom semesters.

An astonished Oskey received the certificate of recognition for her excep- tional work while joined by fellow Kanoelani Elemen- tary teachers and staff, state Department of Education leaders and area lawmakers. In addition, she was given a $1,500 check from Hawaii-
USA Federal Credit Union for professional development purposes.
