St. John’s Catholic Pre- school in Mililani has a couple of monumental occa- sions happening this month.
The fundraiser event will feature musicians from the group Hui pū, meaning “to blend” under the direction of instructor Jonah Davis. It will also include members of Nā Maka O Pu‘uwai Aloha, or Descendants of Generos- ity. Due to the pandemic, a few dancers and band mem- bers will be at the church, with the audiovisual team livestreaming performances.
“One of the two young men who will be doing the tech- nical side of the live-stream- ing is also an alumnus of the preschool. Because so many people have come together to help — most especially the young people who went to the preschool — they have named this concert Kako‘o Kākou, ‘Let’s All Support,’” Zedalis explains. “I find the story encouraging and uplifting.”

Through the years, Quiason’s journey in life has taken her to Kuwait, Chica- go and eventually Hawai‘i.
“When I see them on their road to life, on their way, being a good citizen of our community, I think that is very important and I feel good about being their teacher,” Quiason explains.
“During the pandemic, we discussed as a family ‘What are things we can do to help our community’? I remem-

“She has taught a lot of our community in those years,” says Deb Zedalis, a member of the school board.
