Wreath Time At Kaneohe Park
Wreath-making is in, so the Windward School District PCNCs are partnering with Kaneohe Community Park Dec. 2-4 to share the secrets of creating a handsome holiday wreath out of nature’s backyard bounty.
Wreaths, swags, table centerpieces, desktop or basket arrangements – all are possible creations for the eager student with proper supplies.
Classes will be held between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. all three days at the park, located on Keaahala Road. (Park in the upper lot via Pahuwai Place.) Fee is $5, and students should bring their own greenery, such as pines, junipers, autograph and silver buttonwood leaves, macadamia and satin leaves, eucalyptus leaves, podocarps and pitosporum. Dried materials like pine cones, monster leaf sheaths, uki grass, hydrangea flowers, protea and baby’s breath, Christmas berries and lipstick pods will do as well.
Also required: a straw wreath base, flower shears, scissors, greening pins, S pins, wired florist picks and ribbons.
