Windward Students Can Apply Now For Rotary Scholarships
The Rotary Club of Windward Oahu has scholarship applications available now for yearly college awards of $3,000 a year, for a total of $12,000 over four years, provided the awardee maintains a “suitable” grade-point average.
Through its nonprofit Windward Rotary Endowment Fund, the club has awarded $119,940 to deserving area residents since 1997, plus $134,000 via Hawaii Rotary Youth Foundation.
“We are very proud that we have been able to give worthy Windward students more than a quarter of a million dollars in financial aid,” stated president
Murray Visser. Candidates must have graduated from a Windward high school or be a resident of the area, and not related to a club member, he noted.
Residence area is from H-3 to Makapuu lighthouse.
Current club scholars are listed below.
• Nadia Busekrus, a Kailua resident and Sacred Hearts Academy graduate, is the newest WREF scholar. She is studying nursing at George Mason University in Fairfax. Va.
• Kevin Kahuena, a former Kailua High student body president, is a sophomore studying business administration at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction.
