West Teams Are OIA Soccer Honorees
Editor’s Note: This is part two of a recap of area soccer teams. The first part, which covers boys soccer, appeared in last week’s issue.
In girls soccer, Pearl City posted another solid season, finishing 7-4-4 overall. Mid-fielder Lauren Takai, defender Alix Suwa and Manaia Siana-Unutoa were all named West First Team All-Stars from the Chargers. Attacker Kristen Maeno and defender Nikki Suwa were chosen to the Second Team from Pearl City, while Tiffany Joy Nakagawa and Kylie Louis received Honorable Mention.
Defender Kai Mahuka was named to the First Team from Kapolei, which finished 7-4-2 overall. The Hurricanes also placed attacker Kelli Fryxell, mid-fielder Kalynn Gallarde and goalkeeper Arielle Stoyanow on the Second Team. Jenna Tomei, Ariel Manzano, Bianca Gonzales and Shandy Hopeau received Honorable Mention from Kapolei.
Mid-fielder Alilani Lorenzo and attacker Shatres Ah Nee were named to the First and Second Teams, respectively, from Campbell. Saber teammates Kiley Haraguchi, Taylor Cabbab and Shanoa Wagner Bright were chosen Honorable Mentions.
Aiea had seven players chosen for Honorable Mentions. They are Leah Pajimula, Shayna Olanda, Mariah Balmaceda, Taylor CazimeroBushaw, Taylor Kolona, Jazlin Ching and Mapu Tauala.
Receiving Honorable Mention from Waipahu were Alyssa Almogela, Katelyn Onaga, Caitlyn Estanique, Cara Phillips and Jodi Shibata.
