West Oahu Food Drives Saturday

Hawaii Foodbank’s 25th annual food drive is under way, and two West Oahu shopping centers are expecting your donations during the final push from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Both Pearl City Shopping Center and Kapolei Commons will have volunteers manning the collection, which is conducted to meet the critical needs of Hawaii’s hungry – and they need all the food donors can muster.

Last month, for example, the food bank distributed nearly 1 million pounds of food across the state. At last report, its warehouse had on hand only eight days’ worth of canned and other nonperishable food.

The nonprofit Hawaii Foodbank collects, stores and distributes to 250 member agencies and food banks on Hawaii island, Maui and Kauai.
