West Keiki Excel In Water Art
Board of Water Supply revealed its 2015 Water Conservation Week poster and poetry winners April 29 at an awards ceremony at the City and County of Honolulu’s Mission Memorial Auditorium.
The contest saw six West Oahu students take home top honors: Jayden Vea De Vera of Holomua Elementary (third place, kindergarten poster division), Lacy Texeira of Our Lady of Good Counsel School (second place, first and second grade poster division), Jade Tamashiro of Kapolei Middle School (second place, fifth and sixth grade poster division), Macceybelle Floresca of Ewa Elementary (third place, fifth and sixth grade poster division), and Francheska Manzano (second place) and Tatum Samson of James Campbell High School (third place, ninth and 10th grade poetry division).
“The BWS’s Water Conservation Week program inspires our schoolchildren to embrace the important and ongoing lesson that we all must work together to preserve and protect our water supply for now and for the future,” stated BWS chairman Duane Miyashiro.
The winning and honorable mention posters will be featured in BWS’ 2016 calendar, and the entries also can be found online at boardofwatersupply.com. Those who wish to see winning pieces in person can head to Kapolei Hale until May 28 or visit BWS’ public service building from June 29 to Aug. 14.
