Wanted: Video Safety Messages
Farmers Insurance Hawaii is encouraging students to think about safe ways to get to and from school — via a video competition.
Students are invited to submit videos of safe driving and pedestrian practices to the company’s Hot Shots video contest. One winner will be selected from both middle and high school levels, winning $1,500 plus an airing on TV in the form of a public service announcement. Second- and third-place schools will receive $1,000 and $500 cash prizes in each category.
Hot Shots requires students to deliver a serious traffic safety message in a fun way, while instilling safe driving habits early on, according to company officials. The judges were “overwhelmed with the quality of the videos” last year, particularly the warnings about drinking and cell phone distractions
Launched Aug. 2, the contest continues through Oct. 17. Rules and information are available at myfarmershawaii.com/hot- shots. For details, call 544-3988.
