Drugstores Help SOH Athletes
A national drugstore chain has stepped up to support Hawaii Special Olympics this month by accepting donations at its checkout stands.
Walgreens stores, including its Waipahu and Ewa Beach locations, will collect donor contributions throughout June and give 100 percent of the funds to the local Special Olympics mission of supporting athletes with intellectual disabilities.
“We’re so grateful to Walgreens for their support,” said SOH president and CEO Nancy Bottelo. “Without companies like them stepping up to the plate and investing in our athletes’ health and happiness, we would not be able to continue our work serving more than 3,500 athletes statewide.” All funds from Walgreens will be used for the SOH state games, which take place year-round in Olympic-style competition.
