Wahiawa Hospital Wins Grant
Wahiawa General Hospital received a $3.5 million capital improvement grant May 2 during a ceremony at the hospital. The grant will be used to modernize and expand the facility’s emergency room.
After construction is completed in September 2015, The ER’s floor space and beds will more than double.
Additional funds for the project will come from the state Department of Health Trauma System Support Fund, the WGH Auxiliary and Wahiawa Hospital Foundation.
The hospital sees an average of 60 patients each day in its seven-bed emergency room.
The last remodel came in 1972 to serve 16 patients per day.
