Two area women, Hoku award-winning singer Mailani Ma kainai of Kahaluu and kumu hula and 1971 Miss Aloha Hula Kau’i Dalire of Kaneohe are collaborating again, and everyone benefits. As partners in the entertainment company Ha Enterprises, they’ve organized a free concert (with food and crafts) to benefit Iolani Palace from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 6 on the palace grounds (haenterprises.net). They also produced the independent film The Light in the Lady’s Eyes about Kau’i’s mother, Aloha Dalire, and the journey with her daughters to the pinnacle of hula success together. Kau’i now leads and teaches her own halau weekly at KEY Project. Mailani’s latest album, Manawa, includes songs written by Kau’i as well …
