Honolulu Community College will honor four distinguished alumni at a gala benefit Feb. 20, including Haleiwa’s Brock Little (1994) and Mililani’s Denis Mactagone (1970). Mililani’s Jayson Fukumoto has graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas … Now in the fund-raising and development stage, the film project I Am Haloa will feature three Kamehameha seniors, including Taylor Anne Meali’i Fitzsimmons of Waialua, who explore their ancestral link to the first Hawaiian, Haloa (and eat plenty of healthy kalo along the way). Mililani’s Logan Zeuner, an avid triathlete and senior at Mid-Pacific, has been nominated by U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz to attend one of our nation’s service academies, based on his academic, athletic and leadership skills. Schatz and U.S. Sen. Mazie Hirono both nominated Wahiawa’s Seamus Hurley, an all-round athlete and student at Saint Louis School, and Hirono nominated Leilehua High’s Nathan Fields …Mililani’s Ryan Nakagawa is now senior loan officer at Honolulu Homeloans. He also is part of the team behind the 801 South St. high rise project and is on the board of Honolulu Jaycees …

The world-renowned Waialua jazz musician wrote If It Swings, It’s Music with Theo Garneau Makani Moniz (Waialua 2010) has graduated for Air Force basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas, and Haleiwa’s Adrian Espiritu has graduated from Army Reserve basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C.
