The DOE said the Roosevelt senior also scored 2280 on her SAT. Kaiser High and UC Santa Cruz grad Mele Coleman is in the midst of a yearlong, paid marine policy fellowship, currently with NOAA in D.C. … Sacred Hearts Academy’s Sara Tashima placed second in standing shooting and fifth individually overall at the National Air Rifle Junior Olympics last month in Alabama. She also earned an “Excellence” badge, which has been worn by only one other Hawaii resident, her SHA assistant coach Vicci Yau …
Kuliouou’s Linda Kaiser, the first person and only woman to swim all nine Hawaii ocean channels, will be inducted with four others into the Hawaii Waterman Hall of Fame Aug. 22 at Outrigger Canoe Club (dukefoundation.org for tickets) … Speaking of water, Kaiser High swimmer Kira Fox has won a $10,000 scholarship from the same foundation as Ambassador of Aloha – the student-athlete who best lives up to the late Kahanamoku’s creed.
