It’s all drama for Kailua native Kelsey Baehrens, who did such a good job as Mercutio in Baldwin Wallace University’s Romeo & Juliet last month that she’s been selected to compete for a national drama scholarship next spring in D.C. Kelsey’s also cast in the Ohio college’s Cat On A Hot Tin Roof and will teach drama next summer at her alma mater, Mid-Pacific Institute — after studying in London’s West End theater district …

Kailua runner Bobby McKaig joined thousands at the Oct. 11 Ironman Triathlon and finished in under 15 hours. Cycling was hardest, he admits in his journal, especially with the wind pushing back: “Being an engineer … I had to think about (the slowdown). When ‘the elite’ passed me (coming back), that meant that with a 30-minute head start, they were over 60 miles ahead of me on the bike … holy crap!! But I just had to keep going” …
