Mililani’s Ray Cruz has put a new gig on his music menu. Last week the popular deejay and emcee premiered Latin Beat on HPR-2, where he works as assistant operations manager. Wednesdays from 8 to 10 p.m., he’s playing the latest sounds of Afro-Cuban Latin jazz as well as Latin big band classics. “I picture my listeners coming home from a hard day of work, turning on the radio to Latin Beat, and getting recharged,” says Ray, who received a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002 at the annual Los Angeles Salsa Congress …
Dionte White (Mililani 2012), Mililani’s David Kalohi (UH Manoa 2013) and Cody Fujishiro (Mililani 2013) all have graduated from Army basic training — Dionte and David at Fort Benning, Ga., and Cody at Fort Jackson, S.C. … Mililani’s Cory Alan Nakagawa just claimed his BS in applied human biology from Seattle Pacific University … Maria Fernando, general manager of the Wahiawa McDonald’s, has been promoted to regional training consultant for the Hawaii and Guam restaurants. Maria has been “a huge asset and inspiration” during her 28-year career with the company, officials say …
Dana Dinsmore, an engineer from Haleiwa, was in the Season 3 cast of reality TV show Alt for Norge (The Great Norway Adventure) a while back. The camera follows a dozen Norwegian Americans who fly to Norway and immerse themselves in the culture as they race through obstacles toward a $50,000 prize. He didn’t win it, but a fellow contestant called the surfer dude “laid back, mischievous, wonderfully surprising. Dana tends toward handstands in strange places” …
Anthology Marketing has promoted Mililani’s Anna Koethe to account executive. Anna graduated from UH Manoa with highest honors in communication and political science; she also was ASUH student body president.
