Volunteers Needed To Rep Keiki In Court
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Hawaii is seeking volunteers to advocate for foster care children and will host a training session from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for five Saturdays starting Oct. 5 at the Ronald T.Y. Moon Judiciary Courthouse in Kapolei.
CASA volunteers are everyday citizens who represent children in courtrooms in cases that involve divorce or parental rights and responsibility. The training session will provide prospective volunteers
with the tools that they need to participate in courtroom procedures, giving testimony and conducting interviews. It also will discuss child abuse and neglect laws, social service options and more.
CASA Hawaii is part of the National CASA Association, which was created to provide representation for abused and neglected children in the courtroom. CASA is comprised of 933 programs throughout the country.
