Taste of Waialua Highlights Food, Goods
The Taste of Waialua will celebrate area foods and industries April 7 at the Old Waialua Sugar Mill.
Now in its fifth year, the event includes more than 50 vendors and exhibitors featuring locally produced coffee, cacao, produce, food, art, music and manufacturing.
Free tours of the sugar mill, which is now the processing site for Waialua Coffee and Cacao, along with free coffee samples, will be offered at Island X Hawaii.
The schedule is below.
* 8:30 a.m. Waialua Famers Co-op Market sells area-grown fruits and vegetables.
* 9:30 a.m. The Hawaii Coffee Association and Dr. Shawn Steiman present a history of coffee in Hawaii and the emergence of Waialua Coffee and Cacao.
* 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Free Waialua historical and agricultural tours. The short narrated tour visits several local farms historic sites around Waialua, highlighting its agricultural history.
* 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Live music by Sunset Beach Elementary School’s ukulele class, the Abrigo Ohana, Kalei Gamiao, Halau Hula Makana a ke Aloha and Roshan & Shivani/Clear Sky.
