Get ready, Kailua. It’s coming.

The Minneapolis-based department store chain Target conducted a job fair Dec. 11 and 14 at Royal Hawaiian Golf Club, seeking to fill 250 jobs at its sixth Hawaii store, which is set to open in March 2015 in Kailua.

Positions open to area residents range from facility and pharmacy technicians, to sales clerks, drivers, security and cashiers.

Located at the former Don Quijote/Holiday Mart site on seven acres of Target-owned Hahani Street property, the 130,000-square- foot store will have an estimated 400 parking stalls, 300 employees and generate 250 construction jobs over its one-year building period.

Quick facts: The Kailua Target is smaller than its Salt Lake and Kapolei outlets to respect Kailua’s “unique village feel,” according to its website. Also, the concrete walls of Don Quijote will be crushed and recycled onsite and used for structural fill.

The department store chain operates nearly 2,000 stores in the U.S. and Canada.
