Readers Theatre Play This Week In Kaneohe
What is a “folly”? The common definition is “foolishness” or a “mistake,” but that’s not what it means in Talley’s Folly.
To figure it out, curious theatre-goers will have to head over to Pohai Nani’s Bacon Auditorium this week (June 3, 5 or 8) for Windward Readers Thea-tre’s presentation of the American play.
Performances begin 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, and 2 p.m. Sunday. There is no admission charge, but calabash donations are encouraged to cover the cost of play royalties.
The 97-minute play, which is the final production of WRT’s 2013-2014 season, focuses on the dysfunctional love affair between Sally Talley, the aloof daughter of a conservative Missouri family, and Matt Friedman, an orphaned immigrant with a dark past.
Talley’s Folly stars actor/readers Jayme Alexander and Daniel Mayberry, with Vanita Rae Smith directing.
WRT is sponsored by Hui o Pohai Nani and is presented by Hui Entertainment Committee.
