Taking Keiki Steps To Enter Kindergarten

Three weeks of summer preparation may be all that’s needed for a young child to make a smooth transition to kindergarten. And it’s all free.

Sponsored by INPEACE (Institute for Native Pacific Education and Culture), the Keiki Steps course helps children become familiar with the school setting and group-learning environment before public schools open July 30.

The morning program is set up at nine Windward elementary school campuses – Blanche Pope (June 18-29), Waimanalo (June 27-July 11), Kaneohe (June 12-July 3), Kahaluu (July 2-16), Waiahole (June 27-July 18), Kaaawa (July 9-20), Hauula (July 2-23), Laie (June 27-July 18) and Kahuku (June 20-July 11).

All children must be registered for kindergarten at a participating school in order to attend Keiki Steps. For more information, call 693-7222.
