Take Back Initiative Offers Drug Disposal
With the sponsorship of several government agencies, local military and civilian shopping hubs will accept unused and expired medications from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
In West Oahu, residents can drop off their surplus drugs at the Kapolei Police Station parking lot (1100 Kamokila Blvd.) or at the Pearl Harbor Navy Exchange main lobby (4725 Bouganville Drive).
The national Take Back Initiative is an effort to encourage the proper, safe and anonymous disposal of tablets, capsules and all other solid dosage forms of medicine. These should not be thrown in the trash or flushed down the toilet, where they can enter the island water supply.
