STEM Camps At Pearl Harbor

Applications are due June 10 for Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility’s STEM Awards program, which recognizes high school students who have a demonstrated dedication to science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Funded by the National Defense Education Program, the awards provide $2,000 each for 10 students active in robotics programs.

Student must be state residents currently enrolled in high school. Applicants also must be in good academic standing and have been active in Hawaii’s annual FIRST Robotics Competition for at least one academic year.

In more STEM news, Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor is launching its STEM summer program next week with its Flight School and Aviation Adventure sessions.

Designed for middle school and high school underclassmen, both programs introduce students to various aspects of aviation.

During the three-day Flight School, students will learn the history and technology of aviation with hands-on lessons. Flight School offers three sessions for boys June 5-7; June 17-19; and June 24-26; and two sessions for girls June 10-12; and July 8-10.

The Aviation Adventure program is designed for students who have completed Flight School or are at least 13 years old. The three-day, two-night workshop runs from July 15 to 17 or from July 22 to 24.
