Soroptimists Seek Applicants For Youth Community Service Award

The Central Oahu Soroptimist International chapter has a $500 cash award ready for the best teen candidate for volunteer service.

The Violet Richardson Award honors young women who make the community and world a better place through volunteer efforts. The Mililani-based club is looking for applicants age 14 to 17 “who believe in the power of volunteer action.” Examples of service could include fighting drugs, crime and violence; cleaning up the environment, or working to end discrimination and poverty. Actions that especially benefit women or girls are particularly encouraged.

Deadline to apply is Dec. 1.
