Sony Open Spreading The Wealth To Charity

The Sony Open, held back in January of this year at Waialae Country Club, helped to raise $1 million for Friends of Hawaii Charities, which recently distributed grants from the fund to more than 170 nonprofit groups across the state.

Among them are the following organizations with direct benefit to Windward Oahu: Bobby Benson Center, Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii-Windward Clubhouse, Family Promise of Hawaii, Friends of Ko’olau Clubhouse, Hawaii Fi-Do Service Dogs, KEY Project, Koolauloa Educational Alliance Corp., Marimed Foundation, Hula Preservation Society and Waimanalo Health Center.

The Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Foundation and FHC members also donated to the fund, which has distributed more than $13 million since 1998.
