Sea Life Park Hosts 50-year Celebration
When Sea Life Park opened in 1964, visitors paid $2.64 to visit the attraction. In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Sea Life Park will host a day of festivities from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, featuring new exhibits, live entertainment and a throwback admission rate.
The day marks the introduction of a revamped Dolphin Cove, Hawaii Ocean Theatre and Kolohe Kai Sea Lion Shows, with showtimes throughout the day. Two new exhibits also will be unveiled: a 3-D Sea Interactive Sea Life Experience and a Storm Water Education display, both at 10:30 a.m.
The event includes demonstrations and discussions by its community partners, including Sea Life Park Educational Program, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association, Department of Transportation Storm Water Management Project and Malama Maunalua from noon to 4:30 p.m. Keiki activities run from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., including a bounce house and climbing wall.
The day wraps up with a 7 p.m. concert in the park’s Makapu’u Meadows featuring East Oahu’s own award-winning Maunalua.
Admission for the day is, of course, $2.64. For more information, call 259-2500.
