Rotary ‘Saves Lives,’ Duckies
Hawaii Kai Rotary Club will celebrate Independence Day with a unique beauty contest coupled with an abundance of tips on life-saving services from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 4 at Hawaii Kai Shopping Center.
In anticipation of its next Ducky Dash in 2015, the club will have its bright yellow ducks available for beautifying. For a donation, attendees can take them home for a makeover for the contest. Winners will be announced on Labor Day and will then be entered in the Hawaii Kai Christmas parade.
Also planned, in partnership with McDonald’s and Kahala Sunrise Rotary Club, is the kick-off to a new “Rotary Saves Lives” campaign, which features keiki games, grab bags and community service stops around the shopping center. These include a blood drive, bone marrow registry, CPR and fire safety, HPD’s Keiki ID booth, blood pressure checks, eye exams, Malama Maunalua exhibit, and bike and pedestrian safety tips.
A live radio broadcast, complete with deejay, will be staged at McDonald’s.
