Roses Just In Time For Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is this Saturday, and for those last-minute shoppers who need something beautiful for their significant other, Honolulu Rose Society is selling roses as a fundraiser that morning Oahu Urban Garden Center in Pearl City.
Proceeds help the nonprofit maintain its rose garden at the garden center, as well as supporting HRS activities and educational programs throughout the year. Its mission is to “encourage the fostering and cultivation of roses in Hawaii.”
From 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, the garden center will play host to the sale of beautiful arrangements and potted plants, hand-picked by members of the society. Also, a free workshop on healthy soil starts at 9:30 a.m.
HRS also invites the public to bring in samples from their own gardens for a diagnosis and talk on challenges of rose care.
Oahu Urban Garden Center is on 30 acres at 955 Kamehameha Hwy. and is home to Oahu’s only public rose garden as well as a variety of other horticultural displays, such as grasses, ground covers, orchards and forests on 30 acres. For details, call 453-6050 or visit honolulurosesociety.org.
