Retirees To Salute Veterans
Hawaii Kai Retirement Community (HKRC) celebrates “Patriot Days” this week with tributes to veterans and talks about veteran benefits.
Senior citizens and the general public are invited to attend any of three free programs: • “Let’s Talk Seniors” genealogy class at 2 p.m. Sept. 5, with light refreshments • A seminar on the “Aid and Attendance” veterans’ benefit that may be applied toward retirement home costs at 10 a.m. Sept. 8, followed by a facility tour and lunch. Presenter is veterans service provider representative Doug Bowers • 9/11 Remembrance and Waffles for Heroes breakfast from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Sept. 11. Suggested donation is $5 per plate with proceeds going to the 9/11 Remembrance Fund in New York and to Veterans Affairs in Hawaii.
Located at 428 Kawaihae St., HKRC is home to about 45 veterans.
