Research Station To Share Planting Tips
Poamoho Research Station in Waialua has an open house from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday to showcase its work and mark 100 years of the Cooperative Extension Service in Hawaii.
Located at 65-602 Kaukonahua Road, the station’s staff is mindful of the influx of new farmers on the North Shore and will share its propagation techniques, review basic crop nutrition and offer a variety of organic and conventional fertilizer options available to growers.
Visitors are invited to stay on to tour the grounds and learn about related projects by the UH College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources, such as sustainable pest management, hydroponics, aquaponics and vermicomposting.
