Picturing Easier Toilet Training
Potty training your little one is an important milestone for the whole family. Yet sometimes it’s easier said than done. Fortunately, Tammi Umeno has developed a product that can make potty training as easy as 1, 2, 3. Enter the Wee-N-See, a fun and easy way to toilet train your child.
“I am a mommy of two boys ages 3 and 6. When it came time for my eldest son to start preschool at 3 years old, one of the requirements of the preschool was that he was potty trained. It was incredibly hard to train this child,” Umeno recalls. “When I found out I was pregnant with my second child, I decided that potty training was going to be different and easier. I just had to figure out how.”
Early last year, after much brainstorming, and trial-and-error experimentations, Wee-N-See was created 100 percent biodegradable and 100 percent flushable.
“Your child will have an instant picture reward revealed to them each time he/she goes to the potty,” Umeno says. “Now you can replace the incentive of stickers and charts, and bribes of sugary snacks and expensive toys.”
The Wee-N-See works in three easy steps: First, place the Wee-N-See in the water of the toilet when your child is ready to “go.” Then, when urine makes contact with the WeeN-See, it will chemically activate the aid, and a picture design will be revealed. Finally, flush when done. There are 10 fun designs to choose from, including a dinosaur, ladybug, sun, train, bee, whale, dragonfly and more.
“What’s so wonderful is that my invention was accepted on Walmart’s Get On The Shelf contest. Its like American Idol where the top three product videos that receive the highest votes will be carried by Walmart they will even help with production,” Umeno states. “As far as I know, I am the only Hawaii submission and I need the support of the people of Hawaii.”
From March 7 through April 3, the first round of voting will occur. The 10 products that receive the highest amount of votes will move on to the second round of voting, which takes place from April 11 to 24, and from there the top three product videos with the highest number of votes are revealed. The winning product will be carried in Walmart stores and the runner-ups will be available on Walmart.com. The Wee-N-See is available for purchase ($7 for a pack of 10 toilet training aids) at Ohana Daze in Mililani Town Center and online at wee-n-see.com.
“The definite reward of being an inventor is that I created a product that works,” Umeno says. “It started as just an idea and it then became a reality. I would like to see the Wee-N-See in all stores that carry any sort of baby product not just stores here in Hawaii, but around the world. Why not think big, right?”
