Phonebook Recycling At Mall
Old telephone directories can be recycled during specific weekends in February, including at the Windward Mall makai parking lot.
Volunteers for the “Think Yellow, Go Green” promotion will be on hand to assist customers from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 14-15 and 21-22. Directories from any publisher will be accepted, although Berry Company and Hawaiian Telcom are sponsors of the annual drive.
Hawaiian Telcom Yellow Pages also offers a pro-active program to avoid disposal of printed phonebooks. Yellow Pages Your Way allows consumers to opt out of print directories and choose a CD or electronic downloadable version. For details, visit htyellow-pages.com.
Kahala Mall (across from Macy’s) and Waikele Center on Lumiaina Street also have collection bins on the same dates. For bulk pickup, call 833-2018.
West Oahu Aggregate provides the recycling containers and will haul the phonebooks to HPOWER, where they will generate megawatts of energy for Hawaiian Electric Co.
