Fashionista’s Market Closet Swap Oct. 13
The seventh annual Closet Swap presented by Fashionista’s Market is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 13 at Japanese Cultural Center (in Manoa Grand Ballroom). The event kicks off with a champagne breakfast at 9 a.m., followed by swapping at 11 a.m. There also will be recyclable games, raffles, designer finds and more. Fashionista’s Market also will be throwing in secret finds, such as new clothes and hidden gift certificates throughout the swap.
How it works:
* First, clean out your closet of fashionable gently used/brand new clothes, bags, shoes and accessories that don’t fit and haven’t been worn in the past six months. Fashion tip: If you don’t love it, let it go!
* Bring all of your clean clothes, bags, shoes and accessories to Fashionista’s Market (1185 Bethel St.) Sept. 22 and 29. Your items will be tallied up and you’ll receive a ticket with the amount of pieces you’ve qualified for toward your swapping credit.
* On Oct. 13, get ready to swap with your fellow fashionistas. Participants get to take home the amount of items marked on their tickets. A portion of the proceeds and remaining items will be donated to Leeward Domestic Abuse Shelter and Goodwill Industries of Hawaii. Attendees also are encouraged to bring donations, such as children’s clothes, books, toys and toiletries.
Tickets cost $35, and only 150 are available. (Discounted ticket price of $30 per person when buying for a table of 10 seats.) Included are a Barefoot Wine & Bubbly champagne breakfast, entry to swap, designer seminars, prize giveaways, discounted shopping with Fashionista’s Market boutique and a reuse fashion show.
