PC Students Help Spread The Cheer
The generous students of Pearl City Highlands Elementary School are helping to “Spread the Cheer This Time of Year!” during the annual Pearl City Christmas Parade.
Instead of creating a float this year, each grade level is decorating a shopping cart that will be used to collect donations of canned food from spectators for Hawaii Foodbank. The parade begins at 4 p.m. this Sunday at Momilani Elementary School, continues along Hoolaulea Street and ends at Pearl City Shopping Center.
“We have participated in this parade for the past several years but decided that this year we would like to do something more,” said librarian Janice Lee. “Hawaii Foodbank is very busy during the holiday season, trying to provide for families in need. We hope this will be a way to help ‘spread the cheer.'”
Sponsored by the shopping center’s merchants, the parade attracts thousands of marchers such as Pearl City High School Marching Band, Honolulu firefighters, lion dancers, Na Keiki O Manana chorus, costumed characters – and Santa.
Guests are invited to stay for an after party from 5 to 8 p.m. For more information, 554-8190.
