• BOOKSTORE Friends of the Kailua Library Book- store is now officially re- opened after being closed for more than two years due to the pandemic. The Friends of the Kailua Library was established in 1989 to help enrichliteraryandlearning in Kailua. Funds are raised through bookstore sales, donations and membership dues. Bookstore hours are 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays; 1-5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Fridays; 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays; and closed Sundays and holi- days. Donations of gently
used books, CDs and DVDs can be made during working hours. Books are 50 cents unless otherwise marked. Funds are used to aid the Kailua Library in areas not covered by the state of Ha- wai‘i. Projects that have been funded are security gates/grilles, water fountain, the courtyard, courtyard aw- ning, courtyard furniture and landscaping. People can sup- port the library by becoming a member and picking up a membership form or visiting fklweb.wordpress.com.
• BLOOD Lifesaving blood is needed now, as sup- plies are low. The public can schedule an appointment to donate blood from noon to 6 p.m.ThursdaysatWindward Mall.
