n 2007, Dennis Hida was in church when heard a message that inspired him. It moved him so much that he, and many
volunteers who share his same conviction, are working with that idea 14 years later.
That work — bringing clean water to Afri- can nations — continues with a fundraiser that will be held 5:30-7:45 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21, at Windward Church of the Nazarene.
The event will feature live entertainment by Amanda Han, Kenneth Makuakane and the church’s worship leader, Kyle Furusho.
“We’ll also have ‘ono food for sale, in- cluding pastele stew, white chili, shoyu pork, Spam musubis, baked goods, water and canned drinks. We’ll have a silent auction, and be- tween performers, I’ll share about the water wells and the benefits and show some pictures and videos,” Hida explains.
The fundraiser benefits Maji Project: Afri- ka, which works with Nazarene Compassion- ate Ministries’ African region director, Cosmas Mutowa, to coordinate funding of water wells
