e Jardin Academy in Kailua cele- brates its 60th anniversary this year, marking its growth from humble ori-
gins as a one-room preschool to a Windward Oʻahu-based community leader in educating students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade as an independent school.
“We cultivate knowledgeable, respon- sible and caring young people of character who help to create a more peaceful and sus- tainable world through understanding, stew- ardship and respect — and do so with humil- ity,” says head of school Earl Kim.
Le Jardin, which means “the garden” in French, has blossomed throughout the years. Known for excellence in academics, char- acter and global-mindedness, LJA currently operates from two locations in Kailua, one with the junior school and another housing the main campus, shares Melissa Leinaʻala Moniz, associate director of communica-
tions.
