“We are honored to wel- come Kūpuna Power to the Windward Mall ‘ohana,” states general manager Ce- sar Topacio of Windward Mall. “Kūpuna have always been a valued part of our community and we are ex- cited to help create a space tailored to their needs.”
According to the Hawaiʻi State Plan on Aging, one- third of Hawaiʻi’s popula- tion will be over age 60 by the year 2035.
“The ‘Silver Tsunami’ is hitting our shores and as a community, we need to be prepared. Kūpuna Power is a state of mind that empowers our seniors to take control of their lives so they can age in place with dignity,” states Brickwood Galuteria, former state senator and founder of Kūpuna Power. “Our part- nership with Kamehameha Schools and Windward Mall is one example of our on- going effort to support our seniors. A sincere mahalo to them for sharing the values of Kūpuna Power and for making an impact in people’s lives now and in the future.”
“For the community, es- pecially our kūpuna, Wind- ward Mall has been a gath- ering place for many years. Kamehameha Schools is excited to welcome a space for local seniors to access re- sources and benefits,” states senior asset manager Gary Evora.
“For us, it’s a kākou thing, and this partnership is one we believe will create a posi- tive difference and meaning- ful impact in our communi- ties,” Evora adds.

Appointments must be made by calling the phone numbers listed here; no appointments can be made at the tax sites. Masks and social distancing will be required for all in at- tendance.
by IRS-certified tax counselors instead of at the tax sites this year.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pan- demic, access to tax sites is very re- stricted this year.
Those wishing to use this service must have a working telephone or ac- tive email account for communication with the at-home tax counselor. Taxpay- ers will return to the intake site a sec- ond time to receive and review their tax returns and sign a form authorizing tax filing by AARP Foundation Tax-Aide.
When calling for an appointment, these limitations will be discussed. Taxpayers will be sent intake forms and scanning consent forms to read and sign before coming to the tax sites for their first appointment.
