I’m getting antsy for the 2023 Championship Tour, which starts its holding pe- riod Jan. 29-Feb. 10. You know how fast that’ll get here.

Time is rolling onward
just like the surf, so I hope you and yours are kicking it off in a big way.
The waves finished up 2022 in a big way, too, and 2023 started big as well.
The final roster is set with 36 men and 18 wom- en. These are the world’s best, with the likes of the current 2022 champ Filipe Toledo, 2021 champ Gabri- el Medina (wild card) and 2019 champ Italo Ferreira. Yes, the Brazilian storm is still hurricane force. Let’s
The first weekend of the year had solid 15-foot surf and high surf warnings. Outer reefs and Waimea were decent — not epic, but very decent. What a way to welcome the new year.
At the time of this writ- ing, it’s too far out for fore- cast certainty. Still, it looks like this amazing winter season will continue with near stunning consisten- cy and serious surf. Check
