Located in the heart of ‘Ewa’s West Loch community, Kapa- papuhi Point Park has re- ceived the love and care that each park deserves. The credit is due to hard work and efforts of a nonprofit organization named Hui o Ho‘ohonua. Members of the ‘Ewa community formed the organization in an effort to address the environmen- tal neglect and pollution in Pearl Harbor, to restore its original fishponds, and pro- tect its natural and cultural resources for today and fu- ture generations.
Since 2017, through its evolving network of vol- unteers, partners and sup- porters, Hui o Ho‘ohonua has brought together some 7,000 people from colleges, military, governmental agencies, businesses and 20 public schools to restore the Honouliuli section of the Pu‘uloa shoreline. Ke Awa- lau o Pu‘uloa is the Hawai- ian name for Pearl Harbor and it is surrounded by the ‘Ewa moku, which includes parts of both the Wai‘anae and Ko‘olau mountains as well as fresh waters that flow from 12 ahupua‘a into
