I had the honor of attend- ing the Wai‘anae Kūpuna Council’s celebration of Lā Hoʻihoʻi Ea. The largest pop- ulation of Native Hawaiians reside on the Westside. Many people did not know about this observance, that it used to be an official holiday, and the significance behind Lā Hoʻi- hoʻi Ea.
