Hawaiian Electric Provides Boost For West O‘ahu Nonprofits
Hawaiian Electric re- cently donated a total of $45,000 to three West- side organizations that are working to improve the resilience and sustainabil- ity of the local communi- ty, including Boys & Girls Club of Hawai‘i, Kuleana Coral Reefs and U.S.VETS – Wai‘anae.

Kuleana Coral Reefs (kuleanacoral.com), mean- while, will use the donation to support its studies of the thriving and resilient pop- ulation of corals and fish at the Kahe Power Plant outflow as well as to create thermal maps that will help inform coral reef restoration projects in West Oʻahu and across the state. The money will also go toward an ac- credited dive safety training program that will expand the nonprofit’s capacity for impactful coral reef resto- ration, enable in-house diver training, increase diver safe- ty through education, and facilitate partnerships with other accredited institutions.
